How to Edit Storyboard Cuts and Clip Descriptions in Workflow 2.0
After a storyboard exists, you can change shot timing and clip text without regenerating the whole board. Time-only edits do not rewrite descriptions. Description edits save automatically after a short pause.
Edit a clip description
Click a clip in the list or on the waveform strip. The description field expands. Type what should happen in that shot: who is on screen, the camera, and the action.
Edits save to the selected storyboard (Saving… then Saved). Stay on the page until the save finishes.
Do not put singing or lip-sync performance into the description. Workflow 2.0 video prompts keep mouths from singing; Lip Sync is not part of this path.
Mention characters with @
Type @ to insert a character from the current cast. The mention must match the display name exactly, for example @Luna.
Use @Name when that person is visible in the clip. Do not tag a character who is off-screen. Unknown @tokens and names that are not on the parent scene can block keyframes.
If you rename a character after the board was generated, existing @OldName text does not update. Edit those clips or Regenerate Scenes.
Drag cuts on the time bar
Each scene waveform has a clip strip with cut handles. Drag a handle to move the boundary between two adjacent clips.
- Cuts snap in 1 second steps on the strip (fine motion uses 0.1s internally while dragging).
- Only the two clips on either side of that cut change.
- A clip cannot be dragged shorter than the minimum the UI allows.
- The HUD shows the cut time, both clip durations, and why a drag stopped if it hits a clamp.
There is no undo bar and no empty gap between clips. Time always stays covered.
Split or delete a clip
Split cuts the selected clip (or the last clip) at its midpoint, producing two shots that share the same time span.
Delete is disabled when a scene has only one clip. A scene must keep at least one clip. When several clips exist, Delete asks where the time should go: Give time to the previous clip or the next clip. There is no empty slot option.
Split, delete and cut edits change timing only. They do not call the storyboard model again and do not charge the 12-credit Generate Scenes fee.
FAQs
Can I leave a gap between clips?
No. Clips stay packed against each other for the whole song section. To shorten a shot, give time to the neighboring clip.
Does changing a cut rewrite the clip description?
No. Dragging a cut or typing an exact cut time updates start and end only. Rewrite the description yourself if the action no longer matches the new length.
